Last week, the pioneering virtual event “ A Sip of Israel in North America” was held by Israel Wine Producers Association (IWPA), in partnership with the Israel Ministry of Tourism in the US (IMOT).

The online tour featured wineries from every region in Israel (Tel Aviv, Galilee, Golan, Jerusalem and Negev), and comments from the winemakers themselves and their representative directors in North America (Western, Midwest, Canada, Northeast and Southeast). Although the online experience did not allow travel advisors to smell or taste the wine from afar, the IWPA offered specailized wine packages to participants who wanted a complete immersion to Israeli wine.

Chad Martin, The IMOT Director of Northeast Region, emphasized the crucial partnerships made through wine and tourism: “We have done a number of collaborations with the IWPA on a regional basis, but with webinars and virtual tours on the rise, Josh and I saw an opportunity to do something much bigger. The Ministry of Tourism has long wanted to get the point across that not only is Israel a wine destination, but with the convenience of Israel’s small size, a wine experience can easily be added to almost any day of touring.

Following the previous “On Stage Alaska”, Holland America Line is adapting to COVID measures with an updated online version. It is designed to maintain the same parameters of the original: inspiring customers by providing information about culture, history, transport and travel opportunities. Holland American Line experts broadcast live Q&A sessions to answer crucial questions. Travel advisors promote this event in their local cluster and invite relevant guests and clients to join from the comfort of their home.

The CEO of Holland America Line, Gus Antorcha, explains the purpose of the program and its’ inherent relationship with Alaskan experts: “’On Stage Alaska’ is one of our most successful programs and has proven effective in boosting Alaska bookings for our agency partners, so with the need to remain distant we found a unique way to offer this program and keep Alaska top-of-mind for the 2021 season. There’s no better way to learn about Alaska than from people who know it best, and between our expertise of having been in Alaska for more than 70 years and the Journey Hosts who have lived it, we’re setting agencies up to successfully sell this region with an event that costs them nothing.”
